Oregano essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the leaves of the plant.
The oil has a strong, spicy, camphor-like aroma.
Effect: analgesic, antiseptic, anti-viral, during the autumn-winter epidemic season, during the flu; anti-fungal properties, anti-parasite, anti-lice, diluted in base oil to use on warts; acts as an expectorant, helps against bronchitis, asthma.
Historically, the Greeks used it widely in the treatment of the skin against poisons, convulsions and edema, and in the disinfection of sick rooms.
This essential oil should be used in a very weak concentration. It can cause skin irritation due to its high thymol content.
Blends well with: lavender, lemon, rosemary, cedar wood, black pepper, cypress.
Warning: Avoid use on damaged or sensitive skin. May cause skin irritation. Do not use orally. Do not use in children under 3 years of age. Do not use during pregnancy. Use only diluted 5 drops on the skin. on 10 ml of base oil or cosmetic mixture.
